Jenny McAdams - Team Alpha Church Coordinator and Participant

 Jenny

Meet Jenny McAdams! She is a Team Alpha Coordinator for her church - Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin, IL. Find out why she's decided to get involved and what she already sees God is doing through this.

"I like to run, but I’ve never run anything more than a 5K. However, this year I decided I wanted to do more, so I made a goal to run a 10K. Then I discovered I could run a ½ marathon for Team Alpha so I thought, “why not?” and signed up.

Much to my surprise, I signed myself up to get a group of runners together from my church, Good Shepherd Lutheran, to be on Team Alpha as well! So, I started talking with some runners at my church (who’ve never done Alpha), and they were excited about getting together with others to have fun and run together.

Then, on the evening of the talk, “Why and how should I tell others?” I told my Alpha team and small group about the Alpha Team running idea. They loved it! Many of them are either going to run it themselves, or walk the 5K (which is also an option), and one of our Alpha participants wants to help with fundraising, because God has been working in his life so much through Alpha!

Another person on the Alpha team can’t wait to do it to invite members of his family to be on the Alpha Team with us, to start forming relationships, and hopefully get them to come to our Alpha course next fall (which will start right after the race).

God has completely worked through my inadvertent signing up to be the Alpha team running coordinator at my church and I’m so excited to see what he’ll do through this opportunity. It’s enabling me to get my friends and family to know more about Alpha and support it, and it’s also allowing us to share Christ’s love with others who may not know it, and give them an opportunity to come on The Alpha Course.

I can’t wait to see how God works through this awesome opportunity and I would challenge you to get involved as well-find runners from your Alpha team, your church, and most importantly your friends, to start forming authentic relationships that could open the door for some of them to come to the Alpha Course, and to come to know Christ personally.

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” Philippians 3:12. I encourage you, brothers and sisters in Christ, to run the race God has set out for us, and join the Alpha Team in your area. Who knows God’s plan for you and all the other souls that are on the line for this race?
